2.0 out of 5 starsPoorly designed tank, won’t shut off sometimes, getting noisy . . 6 weeks old

This the review for the Soleus 70E pint dehumidifier. I bought this item on June 29, 2015 and have been running it about 3-4 days. On days I empty it 2 times a day. Less from the days that are warmer. The filter light will stay on when the filter requires cleaning, and you need to reset the filter light manually. It was silent until a month before, and now it’s somewhat dumb. FIVE (5) times in 5 weeks (3 in the past 2 months) it didn’t shut off, permitting water to cover the floor around it. This is VERY IRRITATING. Another issue the previous 3 months is getting the tray out. It is like its frozen, and has to be struck hard with the bottom of a hand, or the kick of a foot to get it to release. Right now as I type, its flood and I can’t get the the tray. Who in their right mind designed a WATER TANK THAT CANNOT BE SAT ON THE FLOOR WITHOUT TIPPING OVER . . I mean really . . Set it down over dumping water everywhere and it rolls . . Like 3 gallons value. Idiotic design.
Strong unwieldly water tank

I have used a great deal of dehumidifiers. This one is especially powerful. More so than my past Soleus’s.
The previous Soleaus dehumidifiers I’ve had lasted for many years before breaking down. I have gone through three of them. (And one from Sears, which did not last quite long — less than one year.) I use my dehumidifiers every day. So my dehumidifiers work challenging and long.
This Soleus is powerful. Its tank fills up in under a day. (It’s been fairly humid that summer in Los Angeles.) It’s louder than my three smaller Soleus’s, but maybe not as loud as the Sears. As do all of dehumidifiers, it generates a hot atmosphere.
Its main drawback is its own water tank design. When the tank is full, which is fine, this dehumidifier shuts down. But by then the tank is filled to the rim. In eliminating I always spill water onto the floor. Along with the design makes it a hard to properly aim the water since the tank empties. A number of the water will spill away from the toilet, if it empties into a toilet. Easier to empty into a tub.
So it’s not too big a deal, however, you spilling water. However, I recommend that you empty the water tank until it becomes full. It is going to be easier and less cluttered.
